R.P.R.® in Coke Oven
When the silica lining of a coke oven badly needs repairing then, with a minimum of disturbance from the regular running
of the plant, a hot repair is the only suitable remedy.
FIB-SERVICES has developed a special process called Reactive Projection Repair® (R.P.R.®) to deal with just such a
situation. It is based on the formation of a new refractory monolithic lining the restore the initial profile of the wall.
This formation is the result of the exothermic chemical reaction of a mixture projected with a machine through a lance
on the hot surface to be repaired. This reactive mixture mainly containing silica refractory phase provides owing to
the exothermic reaction a mixed oxide CaSiO3 acting as the bonding phase for both the initial brick masonry abs the
refractory silica grains of the repaired product.
Advantages
Material (powder)
- High bulk density
- Low porosity and gas permeability (low carbon infiltration)
- High thermal conductivity
- High mechanical strength and abrasion resistance
- Excellent adhesion to the initial masonry owing to the good thermal compatibility between both materials (old and new)
Projection Machine
- Easy to use
- Only 2 Operators
- Powder feeding through hopper -> No pressure and no N2
- Light and compact : 137 kg H: 1m L : 0.80 m l : 0.60 m
- No moving parts
- No electricity and no electronics
